The Birthing Center also has a central living room area where family members can access a kitchen, a room for childbirth classes, and a clinical area where midwifery visits take place.
The Birthing Center at Mercy Hospital offers a home-like birth experience with low intervention services. Certified nurse midwives help deliver babies in a warm, natural environment. Doulas and family members are encouraged to be a part of the experience. The Birthing Center can assist with VBACs, well women care, and nitrous oxide is provided when needed. The Birthing Center is run by midwives with advanced degrees who provide prenatal care, postpartum care, and early newborn care. Care is also provided after the family leaves the hospital to check on the newborn and mother as she recovers.
