newborn baby's life. It's so important to capture them at this stage because newborns grow and change so much during those first few days. Many of my clients choose fresh 48 sessions because it gives parents the opportunity to rest and get photo ready after a sometimes long and exhausting labor and delivery.
Fresh 48 sessions, also known as hospital photography sessions are a great alternative to birth photography. These sessions are named Fresh 48's because they take place during the first 48 hours after your baby's birth. These are my favorite sessions because they allow me to capture and preserve those first few days of your
My approach to Fresh 48 sessions is lifestyle focused, meaning that I give direction and guidance to a point, such as positioning you in the best light, asking you to look at each other, look at your baby, and so on. However, I am mostly creating a space and opportunity for connections to happen naturally. I aim to capture little details like baby feet, hands, first yawns, tiny finger nails, belly buttons, baby snuggled up in the hospital bassinet, baby snuggles with mom and dad, first feedings, first diaper changes, going home from the hospital, baby's first bath, and more. Sessions can also be timed so we are able to document siblings meeting baby for the first time!
When you are packing your hospital bags be sure to include the outfits that you and your family will wear for your session. For your partner, keep it simple like jeans and a neutral solid colored top. For you, wear something comfortable. Those first few days after delivery will have you wanting to stay in your pjs forever!
It’s also important to give your photographer a heads up when you are in labor. This will give enough time for them to schedule for your upcoming session. I always suggest that you assign your partner the task of contacting your photographer and setting up a session time....

"Kelly’s work really is amazing! I’ve had my wedding photos, family photos and a fresh 48 session (highly recommend) done by Kelly and I have never been disappointed. The pictures are always so beautiful and I’m always extremely pleased. If you’re someone like me who never knows what to do, she gives wonderful direction. She makes you feel so comfortable in front of the camera!"
"I was beyond blessed to have Kelly do my fourth baby’s Fresh 48 session. It was quick, enjoyable and honestly really fun! Kelly is calm, talented, wonderful with kids and makes you feel so important. Documenting our newborn’s first few days was very important to me because they change so quickly and Kelly totally nailed it!"
I offer custom framing services and my goal is to give my clients the most archival framing possible. The absolute best way to protect your prints for the longest amount of time is by getting them properly framed behind glass, conservation acrylic or museum acrylic. This gives the highest level of protection against UV light and dust.
