Family portrait sessions are truly an enjoyable experience for my clients whether we shoot in-studio, outdoors, or a cozy lifestyle session in your home. I strive to create a relaxed environment with a focus on simplicity, connection, and storytelling. I want you to walk away with timeless portraits and heirlooms to be cherished and passed down to your children and grandchildren.
A family session is meant to capture your whole family, mom included! How many photos do you have where mom is missing? I want to capture mom snuggling and loving on her babies and show her how beautiful she and her whole family are! Family photography holds a special place in my heart. I love being able to capture snuggles, the giggles, and the sweet calm moments in between.
If you’re looking for a clean and classic feel to your images, the studio is the perfect place! Many clients choose an in-studio family session to take take advantage of the simplicity and elegancy that the studio provides. I can also accommodate large extended family sessions depending on how many family members will be photographed. In-studio sessions typically take place between 10am-2pm and can be scheduled around your child’s nap schedule. My stunning, all white studio is location in Lake St. Louis, Missouri.
These sessions will take place 1-2 hours prior to sunset, depending on the location and cloud coverage on the day of the session. We will discuss your vision for your portraits and determine the best location around St. Louis to choose for your session. Don’t worry about the weather. we can always discuss rescheduling the morning of your session if the weather is not cooperating! Or we can move your session in-doors to the studio or your home!
Choosing to have your family session captured in your home is uniquely special because this it’s the place you've raised your babies and where all the memories are made.
An in-home session ensures a truly unique look to your images and captures your family in their element! Most clients find that their children can warm up to me very quickly at an in-home lifestyle session. These sessions take place between 10am-2pm depending on the available natural lighting in your home. If the weather cooperates we can also take some portraits in your backyard or your front porch. If you'd like, we could also plan an activity for your session in addition to some cozy, cuddly images that we will be capturing. A lifestyle session can last anywhere between 1 to 1.5 hours in length.
Wardrobe is key to a photo session and it should be viewed as an important investment in your session. I always suggest neutral, some pops of color, textures, and to be COMFORTABLE. I love whites, grays, pops of color, and simplicity when it comes to wardrobe selection. Try to avoid neon colors, or solid orange, bright red, or bright teal colored clothing as it tends to leave a color cast that reflects onto your skin. You also do not want your family to be too matchy-matchy, but you will want to coordinate. Think about dressing with your location in mind and be sure that your clothing represents YOU and your family as honestly as possible...
"Kelly is absolutely fantastic!!!!! I don't even know where to begin. She was referred by a friend and this was the best decision we could have made. She was so professional, patient, and assertive without being rude (which would have been expected when trying to corral my crazy extended family picture)!"
I offer custom framing services and my goal is to give my clients the most archival framing possible. The absolute best way to protect your prints for the longest amount of time is by getting them properly framed behind glass, conservation acrylic or museum acrylic. This gives the highest level of protection against UV light and dust.
