Regardless of how prepared you think you may be for childbirth, it never hurts to ensure you are delivering in a truly prepared place for anything and everything. Where you give birth sets the tone for this extraordinary life event, so you want to ensure you are happy with your chosen place! Mercy Hospital’s Maternity Ward, Mercy Birthplace, in St. Louis is a fantastic place to welcome your new baby. With an incredible staff of doctors and nurses, comfortable accommodations, and a commitment to helping you make the most of a safe and healthy birth experience, you’ll be proud to welcome your baby at Mercy Hospital Maternity Ward. Let me tell you more about them!
For more than 150 years, Mercy Hospital St. Louis has been a place of healing in our community. Over the years, it has received prestigious awards of excellence, in no small part due to its compassionate medical and specialty care. Their Mercy Birthplace maternity ward has been helping families comfortably and safely welcome new babies for decades. Yours could be just as happy delivering with them!
Regarding facilities, Mercy Hospital Birthplace is one of the best. Each of their 17 suites has a large whirlpool tub and a multi-jet shower to provide laboring moms comfort and relaxation. Birth partners can comfortably relax on a generous fold-out couch, and an ergonomic recliner with a footrest is a perfect spot for your first moments holding and rocking your baby.
Each room also has free wifi and flat-screen TVs for entertainment. Moms can use birth balls and balance bars to find comfortable positions throughout labor. Wireless, waterproof fetal monitors allow moms to walk, bathe, and shower throughout labor while keeping a close eye on contractions and the baby’s heart rate.
Once your baby is here (yay!), you and your family will relocate to a recently renovated room where you can recover and begin to form a bond with your newborn. You and your partner will have access to light snacks, room service, and a kitchen so you can stay refreshed. A full team of nurses, certified lactation consultants, and specialists will be available to answer questions and offer tips on newborn care, like how to bathe or swaddle your baby.
Mercy Hospital Birthplace is a comfortable and relaxing environment to deliver your baby. Be sure to check their website for pictures and a comprehensive virtual tour!
Mercy Hospital Birthplace is ideal for moms who want a medicated birth or may need a little extra medical attention throughout labor and delivery. However, families who want to explore a spontaneous and unmedicated birth also have two updated and low-intervention suites with a queen-sized bed, hotel-inspired linens, and plenty of room to move around throughout labor.
They also have the separate Mercy Birthing Center Midwifery Care, St. Louis’ first in-hospital, low-risk birthing center managed by certified nurse midwives. They have four separate birthing suites inspired by the comforts of home and plenty of space for moms to labor and deliver in the ways that feel best to them.
Whether looking for an in-hospital birth or something more natural, the Mercy Hospital maternity ward helps you welcome your beautiful new baby. Your whole family will be in good, attentive hands, and you’ll have a birth experience that will be as memorable and pleasant as it can be.
