About The Magic House In St. Louis

516 S Kirkwood Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63122

The Magic House has been a fixture in the St. Louis community for decades. Built in an original Victorian Mansion, the center opened its doors in October of 1979, serving as the first children’s museum in the area. Through the years, the center has undergone extensive renovations and expansions. Today, it features three stories with bits of magic everywhere. Whether your child wants to stand inside a bubble or have some hair-raising adventures, this spot has the perfect thing! While you are exploring the staircases, be sure to keep your eyes open so you can find pieces all about the house’s history!

Services

Not only is The Magic House great for all ages, but it’s pretty fabulous when you are a parent trying to keep each child entertained. The rooms are broken up into different areas. While your older children can run off and scale the wall or make a pizza in the pretend kitchen, you can stay with your younger child and walk them through the miniature Schnucks or let them catch magnetic fish on the stream. They have a fantastic mix of traveling and permanent exhibits.

Throughout the year, you can find temporary exhibits that celebrate franchises such as Who Was and Dinosaur Train. There are outdoor spaces that let your child travel through mazes or play at a water table. Around the house, you will find areas devoted to local teams such as The Blues or St. Louis City. And before you leave, you simply have to try out the classic exhibits, such as the electrically charged ball or the three-story slide!

Specialty

The Magic House has individual spaces where artists and scientists alike can channel their skills into their own experiments. There is a calming corner for children who might struggle with overstimulation as well as a toddler area for kids under the age of 2. If you do plan on visiting more than once a year, you might want to consider a membership. Not only will each visit be free of charge, but your child can have extra treats on their birthday including a dessert from the on-site cafe!

A rating of 5 is not high enough for Kelly!! Kelly is an amazing photographer, was absolutely wonderful to work with, and was quick to reply to emails.
