What is a bare belly session?
What is a bare belly session: Sometimes referred to as a boudoir maternity session, this session can be tailored completely to your comfort level. Some clients choose to wear a dress that will open in the front to highlight their baby bump. Others choose more intimate wardrobe pieces. Either way, the goal of these sessions is to capture your beautiful baby bump in an artistic and feminine way.
Not all clients are comfortable with showing their bare belly during their session, and that’s ok!! But if you’d like to, we will reserve the last portion of your maternity session, specifically for bare belly images.
There are many approaches to bare belly images that we can take. From very subtle bare belly images to fully bare images, we will capture your bare belly in the most beautiful way!
Let’s talk about the different levels of comfort to consider to find out where you stand:
A Limited Level of Comfort
- Limited Level of comfort – If you love the idea of capturing your bare belly, but you would prefer a more subtle way.
A Medium Level of Comfort
Want to try a few bare belly shots showing a cute bralette?
Possible wardrobe options – neutral colored undergarments paired with a lace robe, a chunky sweater, and a bralette
A High Level of Comfort
You might be totally fine with a nude silhouette portrait! These are captured in a tasteful and artistic way!
Possible additional wardrobe options – Nude, silk wrap
You Are Always in Control at Your Session!
No one will know how comfortable they will feel until the moment comes! I will ALWAYS ask you how you’re feeling and if you’d still like to move forward with bare belly images during your maternity session. If you plan for bare belly images and suddenly feel that it is not something you would like to do, NO WORRIES! We will have plenty of poses and dresses to try on during the remainder of your session.
Alternatively, If you initially felt that you would not be comfortable with bare belly images, but find that spending some time in the studio you are feeling completely open to doing a few images, let me know!! I have several wardrobe options for you to choose from last minute!
What to Wear For Your Bare Belly Images
For bare belly sessions, consider bringing nude & light-colored undergarments from kindred bravely or Morrow & Mint and a feminine, neutral-colored robe. These will photograph beautifully without distracting from your baby bump. I can also provide bralettes, silk wraps, chunky sweaters, and bodysuits.
